Noctilucent clouds season

Electric-blue, wispy clouds at the very edge of space (~80 km up) that stay lit long after sunset. The most overlooked summer sky show — visible from roughly 50–70° north, so ideal for the UK, northern Europe, Canada and the northern US. Right now is peak season.

Moon doesn't matter — these glow on their own after dusk.

How to see it

  • Look low to the north-west 60–120 minutes after sunset (or before sunrise to the NE).
  • You need to be at a fairly high latitude — the further north, the better.
  • No equipment needed; a clear northern horizon helps. They look pale, rippled and electric-blue.
